Outcomes

After finishing a WAC Certificate, candidates will be able to:

  1. Design distinct Writing to Learn (WTL) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID) activities that require students to…
    1. Practice course outcomes
    2. Write for more than one rhetorical situation
    3. Practice a full writing process
    4. Conform to their discipline’s writing conventions
    5. Practice a variety of cognitive skills using disciplinary writing
  2. Explain the ways in which WAC theories and practices will inform the candidate's future teaching

Rubric
Criteria 0-1 - Absent or Below Basic 2-3 - Proficient 4 - Advanced
Workshops: “Using Writing to Learn,” “Designing Effective Writing Prompts” or “Authentic Part 1,” “Formative Feedback,” and any two other WAC or LIAISONS workshops are confirmed complete. Hasn’t completed workshop requirements. N/A Has met workshop requirements.
Reflection:
  1. Describes at least two Writing-to-Learn practices integrated into at least one assignment (150 words or fewer). 
  2. Describes at least one formal, disciplinary writing assignment into WAC principles were integrated (150 words or fewer).
  3. Reflects upon how the completed WAC workshops will inform future teaching, and
  4. Certifies that at least 50% of the described activities are original, and cites the source(s) of those that are not.
 Rarely engages with, or misunderstands, WAC theory/practices.   Exhibits some evidence of understanding WAC theory and practices. Describes some impact of these on their teaching. May sometimes be vague. Clearly understands WAC theory and practices and describes their impact on instructor’s teaching.
