WAC LIAISONS - Faculty Learning Communities

Overview

LIAISONS' Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) are multi-disciplinary cohorts of faculty who gather several times during the year to collaboratively investigate challenges related to AI in education, build community, and produce tangible outcomes for their own and others' classes to improve teaching and learning.

"LIAISONS IDEA Lab"

Description: Each year, LIAISONS selects pairs of faculty from four colleges to create shareable critical AI literacy Canvas Master Courses containing educational resources that integrate AI responsibly and explore disciplinary differences in AI practices. Team applications for this 100% online FLC open in September.

"LIAISONS AI Boot Camps"

Description: Each summer, LIAISONS selects up to sixteen faculty to develop AI literacy in a supportive FLC. After discovering LLMs' possibilities and perils collaboratively, participants create an AI -infused, critical thinking-rich activity and adapt an existing assignment to reduce students' AI overreliance. Applications for this 100% online FLC open in April. 

"LIAISONS 'Lumni Lounge"

Description: Six times during the academic year, past participants of LIAISONS FLCs are invited to reunite, sharing new AI integrations or avoidances in their academic work. These "'Lumni Lounges" build the momentum of their FLC experiences and create opportunities for new multi-disciplinary collaborations. Invitations to these gatherings will be sent to LIAISONS alumni each semester.
