First-Time Online Grants
First Time Online Grant ($500) for faculty who have not received
an STI grant in the past.
Faculty will learn to use Blackboard or WebCT to create online instructional
content and learning experiences for their students. Following two days
of hands-on training on Friday, June 7th, and Friday, June 14th, participants
will be required, within the next academic year, to create, maintain,
and actively use a syllabus-based instructional Website using Blackboard
or WebCT.
Faculty must complete several activities over the following academic
year in order to receive their final stipend. These include all the following:
- Posting a course syllabus in Blackboard or WebCT
- Regularly posting course class announcements in Blackboard or WebCT
- Using Blackboard or WebCTs built-in discussion tools in their
class
- Posting Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, or other formatted documents
in Blackboard or WebCT to support a courses learning objectives
- Providing guidance to students on how they can use technology to learn
-- how to access the courses Web site, how to participate in online
discussions, how to view and use the course documents placed online,
etc.
- Participating in extended reflection upon the appropriate uses of
technology within their particular course by completing a final, online
report, at the completion of their students use of Blackboard
or WebCT.
How do I apply?
In 100 words or fewer, complete the online
application indicating:
- Name The CSUF course(s) you teach and the projected number of students
for which you would like to do this work.
- How will you use technology in this course.
- Describe the teaching/learning activities that you plan to use to
meet the objectives of this STI grant.
When is the deadline for applications?
The deadline to submit an application is May 3, 2002. Grants will
be awarded and recipients notified by May 24th, 2002.
