How to Copy Documents or Folders from one Folder to Another on the Same Course

Step 1:

Go to the Control Panel and access the Content area in which you have the document or folder* that you wish to copy.

Once located, click on the COPY button next to the item.

Copy Item

Step 2:

You will now select the destination course and folder.

(1) You have the option to select either the same course as the destination course or you may click on the drop down menu to view other courses that you are teaching and to which you may copy the item. If you wish to copy the item within the same course and from one folder to another - do not change the Destination Course. By default it is set to the same course that you are in.

(2) Select the Destination Folder by clicking on the browse button.

(3) You may choose to remove the item from its current location by selecting YES for "Remove item after copy" option.

Copy or Move Item

Step 3:

You will now browse and select the appropriate Destination Folder to which you wish to copy the item. In this example I have selected to move my item to the Assignments folder. Click on the desired folder. If you wish to copy the item to a sub-folder click on the + sign next to the sub folder to view the items/folders within.

Select Destination Folder

Step 4:

You will see that the Destination Folder has been added to the Destination Folder field next to browse. Click on Submit to copy the item.

submit

Step 5:

Once the item is successfully copied you will see a "Copy Complete" message. Click OK to return to the Control Panel.

Success

Note*: You may copy folders by following the same steps defined above - simply click on the copy option on the folder instead of an item.
