After finishing a WAC LIAISONS Certificate, candidates will be able students to:

  1. Design distinct Writing to Learn (WTL) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID) activities that require students to…
    1. Practice course outcomes
    2. Write for more than one rhetorical situation
    3. Practice a full writing process
    4. Conform to their discipline’s writing conventions
    5. Practice a variety of cognitive skills using disciplinary writing
  2. Explain the ways in which WAC theories and practices will inform the candidate's future teaching

Rubric

Criteria 1 - Absent or Below Basic 2 - Proficient 3 - Advanced
WTL activities ask students to:
  1. Practice course outcomes
  2. Write for more than one rhetorical situation
  3. Generate ideas about, question, explore, explain, reflect on, etc. couse content.
Meets 0-1 of these criteria Meets 2 of these criteria Consistently meets all criteria
WID prompt asks students to:
  1. Practice course outcomes
  2. Practice a full writing process
  3. Conform to their discipline's writing conventions
  4. Practice higher-order cognitive skills, such as analyzing, problem solving, synthesizing, etc. using disciplinary course content
Meets 0-1 of these criteria Meets 2-3 of these criteria Consistently meets all criteria
Reflection explains specifically the ways in which WAC LIAISONS theories and practices will inform the candidate's future teaching. Rarely engages with WAC LIAISONS theory/practices.
