2005 OUTSTANDING FACULTY RECOGNITION

Teacher Scholars

Nominations are invited of all full-time faculty members who have provided a record of exceptional achievements in teaching. To qualify for inclusion in this event, a faculty nominee must have a record of outstanding activity during the past three years (January 2000 - December 2004). Note: Newly hired faculty can be considered for periods less than 3 years, beginning with the time they were hired.

Department Chairs should review all departmental faculty and nominate up to 20% of all full-time members as outstanding teacher scholars. Chairs must include a brief description and documentation (no more than 150 words) of the nominee's outstanding work. These nominations should be forwarded to the College Dean who will review and recommend 15 to 20% of the faculty from their College for recognition. Deans should forward nominations in their College with the descriptions and documentation prepared by the chairs to the Faculty Development Center ( lstotler@fullerton.edu in PL-48).

Nominations for outstanding faculty must be in only one of the following categories:

  • Exceptional Teaching Effectiveness: Incorporating effective teaching methodologies into the classroom that encourages and enhances student learning.
  • Collaborative Teaching: Working collaboratively with their colleagues, with industries and community institutions, and with students in order to enhance student learning.
  • Service Learning: Creating substantive learning opportunities for students in the community that coincide with classroom instruction.
  • Enhancing International Education: Involving students in foreign study and/or incorporating international and global issues into the curriculum.
  • Sponsoring Student Research and Creative Activities: Involving students in substantive ways in their research and creative activities, which promotes student learning outside the classroom.  

Due date for nominations from Department Chairs to the Dean is:

Friday, March 4, 2005, 5 p.m.

Due date for nominations from College Deans to the FDC (PLS48) is:

Friday, March 18, 2005, 5 p.m.

 

Outstanding Faculty will be honored

On Wednesday, April 13, 2005 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

in the Titan Pavilions
