First Time Blackboard Users Grant ($500)
Faculty who are selected for the First Time Blackboard Users
Grant will receive one day of hands-on training on Friday,
June 4th, 2004.
The grants are available to all full-time tenure track faculty.
Full-time lecturers and two-person faculty teams are also eligible
on a space-available basis.
Grant recipients will receive one-half of their grant stipend
immediately after completing training at the FDC. The remaining
portion of the grant will be awarded at the end of the semester
in which:
- The instructional materials are used by CSUF students,
and
- Grant recipients submit a final report for approval by the
FDC, describing and reflecting upon the use of the online
materials in their classes, focusing specifically on the objectives
listed below.
Objectives for First Time Users
Faculty must complete several activities during the 2004 fall
semester in order to receive their final stipend. These include
all the following:
- Posting a course syllabus in Blackboard 6.1
- Regularly posting course class announcements in Blackboard
6.1
- Using a minimum of two discussion board forums using Blackboard
6.1 in their class
- Posting a minimum of five Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint,
or other formatted documents in Blackboard 6.1 to support a course’s
learning objectives
- Providing guidance to students on how they can use technology
to learn -- how to access the course’s Web site, how to
participate in online discussions, how to view and use the course
documents placed online, etc.
- Participating in extended reflection upon the appropriate
uses of technology within their particular course by completing
a final, online report, at the completion of their students’ use
of Blackboard 6.1
How do I apply?
Applications must be submitted no later than May 7th ,
2004 and recipients will be notified by May 17th, 2004.
In 100 words or less, complete the online application
indicating:
- Name of the CSUF course(s) you teach and the projected number
of students for which you would like to do this work.
- How you will use Blackboard in this course.
- The teaching/learning activities that you plan to use to meet
the objectives of this STI grant.
