ANNUAL AUTHOR AWARDS 2003
What is it? Who's sponsoring? And why?
This is an annual campus event designed to recognize faculty who have published a book of general interest and significance in 2003. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments with the campus and the community at large. Academic Affairs, the Faculty Development Center, and Pollak Library are pleased to sponsor this event in collaboration with Public Affairs and Titan Shops.

When? Where?
Our event for authors will take place on
- Wednesday, February 25, 2004 from 11:30-1:30 p.m.
- Titan Student Union, Pavilion A .
We will honor faculty who have had a book published by a reputable publishing house. These may be scholarly books, works of fiction or non-fiction, poetry, art books, textbooks, anthologies, or edited books. Vanity press books, self-published books, un-published manuscripts, pamphlets, brochures, cus tom -published course anthologies, and course packs will not qualify.
- Books must have been published or bear a copyright date
between Jan. 1, 2003 and Dec. 31, 2003 .
How to Apply?
FOR FACULTY:
Deans of each college have been collecting information from their faculty on who has published books during the 2003 calendar year. If you are unsure whether your name has been included in your College's list, please contact your Dean directly . Faculty members should electronically submit the following information:
- Faculty name (co-authors and affiliations, if relevant)
- Department
- Book title/publisher/year
- 2-3 sentence description about the book
- also please send a loan copy of the book to the Dean's office (NOTE: An actual book must be presented to the FDC for inclusion in this event).
FORMAT EXAMPLE

- The Complete Fantasias of Luys Milan, Mel Bay Publishing of Pacific, MO (October, 2000)
- This is the first modern critical and performance edition of all the compositions for solo vihuela by Luys Milan, whose 1536 book, "El Maestro," was the first collection of instrumental music published in Spain . As transcriber and editor, David transcribed the music from the original tablature and edited it for performance on the modern guitar.
FOR DEANS:
Academic Deans should submit their lists electronically to Leticia Stotler and drop off copies of the books for final review and compilation by the
