IMPORTANT NOTICE

THE FACULTY DEVELOPMENT CENTER GRANT AND FUNDS DEADLINE IS:
Monday, October 20, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. for:

International Travel Funds

Each year, the Vice President for Academic Affairs provides some limited funds ($500) to defray expenses for a small number of faculty who have been invited to present at, or participate in, significant international conferences, meetings, and other related professional activities. Fall application is for travel taken between July 1, 2003 and December 31, 2003.

Untenured Faculty Development Funds

The purpose of the Untenured Faculty Development Funds, sponsored with funds from the Chancellor’s Office, is to assist probationary faculty in meeting the qualifications for retention and tenure and to enhance their possibility of receiving tenure at CSUF. Funds can be used to complete publication of instructional studies or research already underway, to initiate new research and publication projects; and/or to prepare to teach a greater variety of courses needed in the department or equivalent unit.
The awards will be for 3 WTU's of release time and/or up to $1,000 in operating and equipment funds for the spring of 2004.

Faculty-Student Research/Creative Activity Grants

The Undergraduate Research/Creative Support Initiative is aimed at encouraging faculty across the campus to involve undergraduates in substantive ways in the research or creative activities. The emphasis of this initiative is to provide a high quality experience for undergraduates by introducing them to the research or creative paradigms of a discipline through close working relationships with faculty.
Students may apply up to $1,000 to support their project.

Teaching Mini Grants

The purpose is to support innovations in teaching and learning activities in a variety of ways, including support for teaching-related supplies, materials, services and travel.
Faculty may apply for $20 to $200 to support their teaching project.

Workshop Information

A workshop designed to acquaint faculty in submitting successful proposals is scheduled on Friday, September 19, 2003; 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in PLS44F.

Application forms for grants are available in hard copy, via email, or may be downloaded from our website at http://fdc.fullerton.edu/grants/default.htm. Apply early!
