Feminist Pedagogy in the College Classroom
- An FDC Teaching and Learning Seminar
- Friday, March 14. (1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
- Speaker: Dawn Leigh Anderson
- Classroom: PLS-44F
Have you ever wondered about what a feminist perspective on teaching
and learning the college classroom might look like? Would you like
to explore ways to make your classroom a site for empowerment? Would
you like to transform your way of thinking about teaching and learning
in the college classroom via a feminist approach to teaching and
learning?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, this two-hour
workshop will introduce you to the main principles of feminist pedagogy,
allow you to explore the possibilities and problems of using feminist
pedagogy in your college classroom, help you find ways to learn
how to work within these possibilities and limitations, and offer
you specific ways that you can employ feminist pedagogy in your
college classroom.
The two-hour workshop is subdivided into three main topics:
- Topic 1: Meeting Feminist Pedagogy for the
First Time: What is it?
- Topic 2: Knowing The Possibilities and Problems
of Feminist Pedagogy: Why would I want to use it?
- Topic 3: Using Feminist Pedagogy to Transform
your College Classroom: How can I use it in my classroom?
