The Academic Affairs Forum is an annual campus event held during Intersession
for our community to discuss a current, broad issue in higher education.
Nationally known speakers are brought to campus to address this issue,
followed by an open forum where faculty and others on campus can explore
the implications of this issue or trend in terms of how it might affect
our campus in particular. Previous years' topics included discussions
of issues such as reconceptualizing faculty work, the teaching/learning
paradigm shift, the Chancellor's Office's stance on providing a high quality
and accessible education, for-profit education and degrees earned online.
In this eighth year, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the
Executive Committee of the Academic Senate has selected the topic of academic
integrity. Topics include use of copyrighted materials from the print
media to the Internet, Turnitin.com and distance learning applications.
