2002 Outstanding Faculty Recognition
Announcing CSUF Academic Affairs' Annual
2002 Outstanding Faculty Recognition:
Teacher Scholars
Nominations are invited of all full-time faculty members who have provided
records of exceptional achievements in teaching. To qualify for inclusion
in this event, a faculty nominee must have a record of outstanding
activity during the past 3 years (January 1999 - December
2001).
Note: Newly hired faculty may be considered for periods of less than 3
years, beginning with the time they were hired.
Department Chairs and Heads should review all departmental faculty and
nominate members as outstanding teacher scholars. Chairs and Heads must
include a brief description and documentation (no more than 150 words)
of the nominees outstanding work and these nominations should be
forwarded to the College Deans who will review and recommend faculty from
their College for recognition. Deans should forward nominations from their
College with a description of the nominees outstanding work and
supporting materials, if relevant, and submit these to the Faculty Development
Center (lstotler@fullerton.edu
i n PL-48). The FDC will receive all College submissions and forward the
Deans recommendations to Dr. Ephraim Smith, Vice President for Academic
Affairs, for final consideration and approval.
Categories
(Nominations for outstanding faculty may be in any one or more of the
following categories:)
- Teaching Programs:
Participating in the various programs on campus to enhance their teaching
abilities (e.g., Carnegie, Teaching & Learning Academy, micro teaching,
etc.).
- Collaborative Teaching:
Working collaboratively with their colleagues, with industries and community
institutions, and with students in order to enhance student learning.
- Student Advisement and Assistance:
Promoting students academic success and/or professional development
through advisement and assistance outside the classroom.
- Service Learning:
Creating substantive learning opportunities for students in the community
that coincide with classroom instruction.
- Enhancing International Education:
Involving students in foreign study and/or incorporating international
and global issues into the curriculum.
- Sponsoring Student Research and Creative Activities:
Involving students in substantive ways in their research and creative
activities, which promote student learning outside the classroom.

Due date for nominations from Department Chairs to the Dean is:
- Friday, February 15, 2002, 5 p.m.
Due date for nominations from College Deans to the FDC (PLS48) is:
- Monday, February 25, 2002, 5 p.m.
Awards
Outstanding Faculty will be honored during Celebrating Teaching Week
- Monday, April 8, 2002 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Titan Pavilions.
