Using Remote Access and Wireless
Description
So you have a laptop that has a wireless connection and has VPN (Virtual Private Network) installed on it. You also attended the brief orientation session at IT on using your laptop. What next? Do you want to be able to access campus resources like the Classroom server, MS Outlook, SiS+ etc.
while off campus?
This 90 minute, hands-on workshop introduces you to the following concepts:
- Wireless Access, on or off campus, where to use it, how to use it?
- What can VPN do for you?
- Accessing your destop remotely, using Remote Access.
- Remotely accessing your hard-drive on your desktop computer.
- Using the complete Microsoft Outlook software for email, no need to access through the portal.
- Accessing the Classroom server on or off campus.
Requirements for the workshop:
- A laptop with a wireless card installed and working.*
- You must have access to the CSUF VPN. Click here to fill in a form to request a VPN CD from CSUF IT, if you do not already have VPN installed on your computer.**
* To receive hands-on training you must bring a laptop, however, you are welcome to sit in without one. You may bring the laptop issued by IT that has VPN preinstalled OR you may bring in your own laptop which has a wireless card installed and working.
** If you bring in your personal laptop make sure you have requested for a VPN CD, and have consequently installed it on your laptop. Please contact the Titan Helpdesk at helpdesk@fullerton.edu or 714-278-7777 for help.
