Introduction to SPSS

Description

This 90 minute, hands-on workshop introduces you to SPSS. You'll learn how to enter and import data, add and modify labels and data, and save and retrieve data sets and output. This workshop is offered twice each semester as a lead-in to our more advanced SPSS offerings.

Objectives

What is SPSS and where can I get the software?
SPSS support, help, documentation
Entering data directly into SPSS, and importing data from spreadsheets and documents
Navigating SPSS’s data, variable, and output views
Adding and modifying data descriptors, labels
Modifying data with Recode and Compute

Prerequisites

Basic understanding of statistics
Hands-on experience using Windows, a keyboard, and mouse
Knowledge of Windows file management -- opening, closing, and saving files
