Enhance your courses with multimedia! Learn to create podcasts in this hands-on workshop for Mac users. Participants will learn how use Garage Band (free*) to record and edit audio, illustrate the audio track with photos, add a musical intro, publish a podcast, and upload the podcast to Blackboard. See objectives listed below for further detail.
Garage Band* is part of the iLife suite of multimedia software applications that comes standard* on the Mac. Other iLife applications include: iPhoto and iMovie.
*Standard on computers purchased/received in Spring 2006 or later. Contact the CSUF Help Desk at helpdesk@fullerton.edu to request installation. For computers purchased prior to S06, iLife can be purchased for a nominal fee.
Objectives
- Steps in planning and creating a podcast
- Overview of the Garage Band interface
- Record and edit your audio track
- Add photos to illustrate the audio track
- Add hyperlinks and chapters for easy navigation
- Add episode art
- Add an introductory music track
- Title your podcast
- Add a directory description
- Publish your podcast
- Upload your podcast to Blackboard
Prerequisites
- At least six months of continuous, hands-on experience using a Mac, a keyboard, and a mouse.
