PowerPoint Basics

Description

This hands-on workshop demonstrates how to create a PowerPoint Presentation. Faculty will learn how to select a design and layout for their slides, add text and graphics, edit slides, add speaker notes, display in presentation mode, and print handouts and speaker notes. Tips for creating effective PowerPoint presentations will be covered. Participants will create a PowerPoint presentation utilizing the skills they learn in the workshop.

Objectives

  • Understand and effectively use the PowerPoint interface
  • Add a new slide
  • Select/change the slide design
  • Select/change the slide layout
  • Add text to a slide
  • Add graphics to a slide from MS Clip Organizer
  • Add images to a slide from a file
  • Utilize PowerPoint’s view options: normal, slide sorter, slide show
  • Save your PowerPoint as a slide show
  • Set print options for printing handouts and speaker notes
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation

Prerequisites

  • At least six months of continuous, hands-on experience using Windows or Mac, a keyboard, and a mouse.
