Excel Basics
Description
This hands-on workshop introduces faculty to the fundamentals of using Excel spreadsheets. The workshop begins with an orientation to the Excel workspace. Participants will create a simple spreadsheet; enter text labels, and numeric data. Simple useful formulas and functions (mean, median, mode) will be introduced and applied to Blackboard Gradebook data. Participants will learn how to modify, layout, and print Excel worksheets.

- Understand the Excel workspace
- Understand cell data types
- Create a simple spreadsheet
- Enter and edit values in the Excel worksheet
- Label the spreadsheet data
- Create a simple formula
- Download Blackboard Gradebook data for analysis in Excel
- Apply simple statistical functions to student grade data
- Modify the worksheet
- Select page setup and print options
Prerequisites
- At least six months of continuous, hands-on experience using Windows or Mac, a keyboard, and a mouse.
