Blackboard Virtual Classroom and Lightweight Chat
Description
This hands-on workshop will demonstrate how to use Blackboard’s real-time Virtual Classroom and Lightweight Chat tools.
With these tools you can:
- Conduct Virtual Office hours.
- Meet with small groups of students without coming to campus.
- Enable student collaboration on papers and projects while eliminating travel time.
- Give students enrolled in online sections/courses an informal place to connect and chat.
Blackboard’s Virtual Classroom provides a variety of classroom tools from which to choose:
- Chat (choose between allowing participants to chat freely or control who “has the floor”)
- Whiteboard
- Group Web Browser (enables the group to view a web page simultaneously)
- And more!
At the conclusion of this workshop, you will know which features are likely to benefit your students and how to implement them.

- Obtain hands-on experience with Chat from instructor and student perspectives.

Prerequisites
- Blackboard Course Web Site Design and Development workshop.
- Basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with using a mouse.
- Opening, closing and saving documents.
