Blackboard Basics
Description
This hands-on Blackboard workshop orients faculty to Blackboard fundamentals. Upon the completion of this workshop, faculty will be prepared to design and develop a user-friendly course website, orient their students to their Blackboard course website and provide/direct students to appropriate Blackboard support resources. An overview of academic policies and resources that impact/support Blackboard use will be provided.
Objectives
- Tour the Blackboard Learning Management System
- Learn a variety of fundamental skills including how to:
- Upload the Syllabus and other Course Documents
- Create folders for effectively organizing course documents
- Create Announcements
- Send e-mail
- View a student roster
- View the Gradebook
- Create links to external websites
- Customize the course appearance (add banner, change colors, etc.)
- Customize the course site menu
- Make a course available for student access
- Learn about resources available to assist students with Blackboard
- Introduce resources for further study (course design, Blackboard skills, related university policies, etc.)
Prerequisites
- Basic Internet browsing skills.
- Basic computer skills including: opening, closing, saving files, and navigating to documents saved on your computer.
