Putting the Library in Blackboard
Description
This hands-on workshop will demonstrate how to integrate library resources and services into your course site using a new web-based toolkit developed at Cal State Fullerton. The toolkit allows you to create URLs that can be pasted into Blackboard, thereby creating live links to articles, e-books, journals, databases, and other library resources and services. This will eliminate the need to upload articles avoiding potential copyright infringement issues.
Instruction on how to effectively search library databases to retrieve material for inclusion in your course will also be provided .
Objectives
- Create live links to an article, e-book, journal, and research database.
- Copy and paste these URLs into a Blackboard course.
- Learn how to create of reading list or assignment using library resources.
- Embed instructions for common library tasks in your course site.
- Include a link to round-the-clock online research assistance.
- Discover how to locate a librarian who might assist you to moderate a research discussion forum in your Blackboard course, or assist with another class-related activity.
Prerequisites
- Blackboard Course Web Site Design and Development workshop.
- Basic computer skills.
