What to listen to, read, and watch:

Radio Stations

  • KPFK 90.7 is a Pacifica Radio Station that carries Democracy Now and other alternatives to mainstream programming.

  • The region has several NPR stations: KPCC in Pasadena is 89.3; KCRW is at 89.9.

  • KFWB 980 carries news, traffic and the Dodger games; KNX1070 is another all-news radio station that carries frequent traffic reports and sports.

Newspapers

  • Los Angeles Times in the major regional (and national) paper of the area.

  • The Orange County Register has the best coverage of local news and sports, and a libertarian editorial philosophy.

  • The Orange County Weekly is the county’s weekly alternative paper.  It’s available free at M.J. Espresso on campus (in between Humanities and University Hall); published on Thursdays

Television

  • KOCE is a PBS station, and the only local television station.  All the others are based in Los Angeles, including the other major PBS station, KCET.
