Natalie Tran began her career as a high school science teacher. She hold a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of curriculum and services related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and examining factors that affect students’ learning experiences both in the classroom and out-of-school settings.

These areas align with her research interest in evaluation of policies and programs aimed at improving the learning outcomes of students from diverse social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Her methodological research interests are hierarchical linear modeling, experimental design, quasi-experimental design, and survey studies. Natalie’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Engineering Education, International Journal of Engineering Education, International Journal of Science Education, Journal of Pre-College Engineering Education Research, and Computers in Human Behavior. She also serves as a reviewer for the various journals including Science Education, Journal of Pre-College Engineering, Education Research, Computers in Human Behavior, and Journal of Math Education.Currently, she teaches quantitative research methods courses for the doctoral program (Ed.D.) at CSU Fullerton.

Faculty can receive individual assistance in the following areas. Assistance is available for face-to-face, blended and online environments.

Departmental and College Trainings

The Faculty Development center hosts a wide variety of trainings throughout the year that focus on improving research and scholarly activities across campus. Departments and Colleges can request specialized and targeted trainings to meet their specific needs.  Trainings can vary from brief Research Tip sessions offered at Department meetings to half- or whole-day events.
