IMPORTANT NOTICE
The Faculty Development Center has received requests from faculty to permanently REMOVE old Blackboard courses from the system. In our effort to balance faculty demands of keeping only the last few semesters’ courses on Blackboard and University policies on having course material and student submissions available for a certain period of time, we have decided on a policy of deleting Blackboard courses dating back beyond a year and a semester.
On June 4, 2006, all Blackboard courses from the following semesters will be permanently removed from the system:
- Fall 2003
- Intersession 2004
- Spring 2004
- Summer 2004
- Fall 2004
Courses retained at June 4, 2006: Spring 2006, Intersession 2006, Fall 2005, Summer 2005, Spring 2005, Intersession 2005
MOST IMPORTANT: This course removal is an irreversible process and once deleted the courses from the specific semesters will not be accessible. Faculty are advised to backup and/or copy course material from the semesters designated for removal. Additionally, we now offer the option for faculty to upload the content from these courses on to their Virtual Hard Drives using Blackboard’s Content System. This will also enable faculty to post these items to designated courses.
The Faculty Development Center will be offering workshops on backing up and archiving courses as well as using the Virtual Hard Drive in the Content System. Please visit our website at http://fdc.fullerton.edu to view our online workshop schedule and register for these workshops.
Please be advised that old courses more than a year and a semester back will be removed each semester from now on. We will announce the deletion date well in advance.
